Here are a couple of scenes from our first day together in first grade.

Read to Self practice. Students got to pick anywhere in the room to read silently. We timed ourselves to see how long we could make it without getting distracted, looking up from our books, etc.
We almost made it to 3 minutes, which may not seem like a lot, but that's GREAT for the first day! Our overall goal is 15 minutes, so we'll keep working on it! :)
