Welcome Back!

Welcome back!  We had a wonderful day back to school.  We're excited to start 2014!

Kid President, our mentor in many ways and our inspiration behind Socktober, had surgery over the holiday break.  He was born with a genetic disorder called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, which makes his bones very weak.  His bones sometimes break for no reason at all.  As a class, we talked about the implications a disease such as this can have on people's lives.  Robby, aka Kid President, had surgery to replace a rod in his leg.  We talked about how this rod is necessary in order for Kid President to walk and to dance as he does in his videos.

We decided it would be kind of us to make cards for Robby to help him feel better after his surgery and to let him know we watch his videos and very much enjoy them.  Here are some scenes from our card making:

We hope Kid President feels better so he can continue to make his awesome videos.  We LOVE watching them and having discussions about how we can make the world a better place by showing others kindness.  Here is his address if you'd like to send your own letter:

I hope your holiday break was filled with family and friends, lots of laughter, and lots of great food!  Happy 2014!
