"I Can" Statements: Week of April 6th

I've been trying to make small changes here and there to grow professionally.  My colleagues push me to try new things all the time, and I am always looking for ways to help my students become more accountable and take ownership of their learning.  Sharing this information with parents is also something I strive to accomplish.

Ms. Upah and Mrs. Fisher, through conversations last week, really inspired me to start posting our class's "I Can" statements each week.  I will try to post these each Monday.  Ask your child about these things they are expected to be able to do as a result of our learning.  (How many times do you hear "Nothing!" when you've asked your child what he/she did in school?  Probably more times than you can count!)

I can identify subject/predicate parts of sentences.
I can identify nouns, verbs, and adjectives in a sentence.
I can read, write, and identify the variant vowel short o sound in words.
I can compare and contrast by finding key words in text.
I can read and order numbers from least to greatest or greatest to least.
I can use the symbols <, >, and = to show less than, greater than, or equal.
I can make a group of 10.
I can determine the value of a number using tens and ones.

Mrs. H :)
