Tree Observation (Early Spring Edition)

Yesterday was so beautiful, it would have been such a shame to waste the sunshine indoors, so we went outside to take a closer look at our trees we adopted this fall.  We had a discussion about sitting quietly and observing the sights, sounds, and smells of springtime.

We took a close look at some sap coming from the trees, the native insect life using the trees as their homes, and some remnants of seeds left over from the fall found under the trees.  Some pointed out the tiny trees poking out from under one particular tree, and we discussed how the tree's "helicopter seeds" were spread around, took root, and began to grow.  The kids were fascinated by how these little trees could grow to become tall trees.  We also took a close look at the buds found on our trees and decided to revisit the buds next week to see if any changes will have happened by then!

Enjoy the sunshine!
