Also, yesterday your child brought home a summer work packet. This is entirely optional, but is just something to keep your child going throughout the summer months to avoid "the summer slide". The idea is to do about 10-15 minutes of reading/math review each day just to keep those first grade skills fresh for the beginning of their second grade year. This booklet includes a summer reading log, plus daily reading and math review of first grade skills.
