Take-Home Journals

So far, I'm impressed with the Take-Home Journals!  I know it can be difficult to get your child to sit and write during out-of-school hours, but I'm LOVING what I've been seeing.  Those two sentences are, for the most part: 1) related to one another (one topic), 2) have capital letters, finger spacing, and ending punctuation, 3) are written legibly, and 4) contain invented spelling for larger vocabulary words, but have common sight words (in, the, and, etc.) spelled correctly.  I am not concerned about your child knowing how to spell the word "delicious", for example, but I am so happy to see your child using "spicy" words like "delicious" in the first place!  I'm seeing them not only using the word, but also using their skills to hear the sounds to write an approximation of the word.  Keep up the great work and thank you for supporting your emerging writer :)
