Scenes from the Maker Space

Students have had multiple opportunities to explore our Maker Space.  The Maker Space is an area where students are encouraged to create using various materials.  It can be teacher-guided or student-guided in nature.  Below, you'll see students engaged in a variety of tasks, including catupult building (with only a picture to guide their building.  We've got some future engineers in 1H!)

We also got a chance to experiment with Beefcake, our robot.  Using an iPad app called Xylo, students can compose music and have Beefcake play it on his xylophone.  The app also allows users to make dance moves for Beefcake to dance along with the tune.

The Maker Space also has a variety of "found" materials for students to reuse and reimagine into something else.  Toilet paper tubes, popsicle sticks, paper, or squash from our garden....you name it, the kids have found a way to repurpose it!
