Blue Paw Print Stamp

We've started a new incentive in 1H.  Your child has the opportunity to earn a blue pawprint stamp on his/her hand at the end of the school day.  Stamps are given in the classroom for having consistently responsible, respectful, safe, and caring behavior throughout the entire school day.  We've talked a lot about the word effort and what it means, and how it's important to give our best effort in order to continue to learn and grow.

I was struggling with how to share with each of you how great your child is doing on a consistent basis, and I thought this would be a great way to spark conversation between you and your child.  I've spoken with the class about showing you the pawprint and telling you about how they earned it specifically.  Each time I give a stamp at the end of the day, I tell them how they've earned the pawprint.  They should be able to share this information with you.  I'm sure you'll hear, "I DID GOOD!"  Sometimes that's all they take away from our conversations, but as we continue to do this consistently, my hope is that they become better at reflecting on their day and thinking about how they can replicate the behavior the next day, or change their behavior to earn a stamp the next day if needed.

It's funny how something as small as a stamp on the hand can be so motivating and rewarding to them!  I hope this helps spark some great conversations about school at the dinner table :)
