Skills Work Folders Update - Please Read

I saw quite a few Skills Work Folders come back today.  Thank you for sending those back with your child for me to review!

You'll notice I kept the same menus in your child's folder unless s/he finished the menu completely.  I did a bit of thinking on this, and I think this will be the best way to ensure your child is having opportunities to try different activities to practice first grade skills.

Once your child completely finishes the goal menu, I will switch it out with a new one with either different skills/learning targets, OR with different activities to practice the same skills.  Please continue to send the Skills Work Folders each Friday for me to review even if they are incomplete.

**I had a few families write down some comments in the box for each completed activity.  I think that's a great idea, and I enjoyed reading how things went as well as some other information (i.e. one parent wrote on the life skills menu that her child had written a letter to his dad and mailed it off...I love to see that!)

To summarize (because that's how my brain works!):
1. Have your child choose one or more activities to complete each night.
2. Initial the box to show s/he completed the task.
3. Leave a brief comment about how it went/any details you'd like me to know.
4. Send it back to school each Friday.  If the menus are complete, your child will get new ones (with the same skills/learning targets but different activities OR a completely new skills menu.) If they are not complete, I will look them over to see how they're going.

Let me know if you have questions or suggestions.  Look for a survey about this in the next week or so.

Mrs. Happel
