In your child's folder today is a note attached to a list of sight words for the month of September. (Sorry, these are coming home a bit late this month!) Please take a moment to look over the sight word list, noting words read accurately and inaccurately. We will reassess your child's progress in learning these words at the end of the month. Please take a couple of minutes each day reviewing and practicing any unknown words with your child. Our goal is for your child to be able to read these sight words quickly (taking less than 3 seconds for each word.) Sight word knowledge increases overall reading success in terms of fluent reading.
Each month, we will move on to a new list, following the same format. As the year progresses, the word lists become more challenging.
**If your child did not receive this note/list, your child knew all 25 of the sight words on the list and does not need to practice them. We will reassess with a new list in October. As the year progresses, these words become more challenging.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mrs. H :)
