Science Investigation: Growing Lawns

We started a new unit in science.  Our first investigation features lawns.  Each student got to plant their own lawn.  Each day, they water their lawns and monitor its growth and any other changes.  We record these observations in our science notebooks.  So far, we've answered the question, "What happens to alfalfa seeds and ryegrass seeds when planted in moist soil?" and "What happens when we mow our lawn?"

Below are a few scenes from our "lawn mowing" investigation.  We will continue to monitor what happens to our lawns.  Today, we fertilized them and recorded the immediate results.  We'll come back to our lawns again in the next day or two to see if anything has changed.
